COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS:

Bitumen in hydrocarbon solvent.

HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION:

Hydrocarbon solvent is flammable, therefore naked flames and sources of ignition should be avoided.

Their can be some risk to health by:-

Breathing in vapours (inhalation) or, contact of the liquid or vapours with skin and eyes.

FIRST AID MEASURES:

It is essential to act quickly.

General: Remove to fresh air, remove contaminated clothing and obtain medical attention.
Inhalation: Immediately remove to fresh air. If breathing has stopped or is irregular apply artificial respiration and administer oxygen.
Skin contact: Wash with soap and water or use a bland proprietary cleanser.
Eyes: Flush out with clean water for ten minutes obtain medical assistance.
Ingestion:
Do not induce vomiting. If patient vomits, turn into recovery position, give water to drink. Obtain medical assistance.

FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES
Extinguish using co2 or dry chemical foam.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

Avoid breathing the vapour and ensure there is effective ventilation to prevent a build up of vapour and fumes. Skin contact with the materials should be avoided and suitable barrier creams used. Product should be absorbed by earth or sand and removed to a safe place. Avoid contamination of water courses and entry to sewers.

HANDLING AND STORAGE

Work with chemicals should be carried out to high standards of housekeeping and personal hygiene. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe vapour. Ensure good ventilation of premises. Wear clean body covering clothing, boots, gloves and goggles.

Store in a container, tightly closed. If possible, store under cover. Shelf life is indefinite under normal storage conditions.

 

EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION:

Protective clothing should be worn (boots, goggles, impervious
gloves and overalls). Soiled clothing (including underclothing)
should be regularly changed and efficiently cleaned. Personal hygiene is particularly important. The skin should be thoroughly cleansed after work and regular baths or showers taken. Wash the hands thoroughly before going to the lavatory, before meals and before smoking. Workers should be encouraged to report any warts and any unusual skin conditions, including lumps or sores on arms, face or scrotum as early diagnosis ensures that any necessary treatment is effective. regular medical inspections should be carried out.

TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

Short term exposure to high concentrations of the vapours may lead to drowsiness, nausea, dizziness and confusion. Skin contact can be irritating in the short term, repeated contact may cause dermatitis.

ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

Liquid product at ambient temperature. Avoid contamination of land, water courses and sewers. Slowly but ultimately biodegradable.

DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Absorb in earth or sand and dispose of at an appropriate licensed waste disposal site. Dispose of empty container to an appropriate licensed waste disposal site. Ensure that disposal conforms to national or regional legislation's.
