DESCRIPTION:
Webbseal Self Adhesive Flashing Tape consists of a reflective aluminium foil coated with a thick layer of rubber modified bitumen protected by a tough, tear-resistant liner. The product is available in two finishes - bright aluminium or simulated lead. A tropical grade is also available which offers improved high temperature performance.
TYPICAL USES:
General:
Vehicle maintenance and repair, sealing around pipes and tanks, repairs to weatherproof enclosures, sealing over wood, concrete brick most metals and some plastics.
Construction:
Flashing & Sealing to felt asphalt and bitumen surfaces, flashing of conservatories and porches, roof skirtings and parapet joints, sealing of rooflights, vents, pipes, and other openings, repair bandage for gutters and roofs, sealing glazing bars, cappings and protective coverings.
STORAGE:
Store the rolls horizontally between +5 dg C and 25 dg C in dry conditions in original packaging. Shelf-life approximately 12 months.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces must be clean of dirt loose material, grease and oils. Rough or porous surfaces must first be treated with Webbseal Bitumen Primer.
APPLICATION:
Do not apply to very cold frosted surfaces. Trim the materials to the required length/shape allowing an overlap of at least 25 cm where the material is to be joined. On stepped flashing begin at the lowest level and work upwards. Warming the tape using gentle indirect heat will help the adhesion and make the tape more workable in cold temperatures. Ensure that there are no air pockets. Apply even pressure over the entire surface using a non-abrasive tool e.g. cloth or hand roller. Take care not to stretch or puncture the foil during application.
CHEMICAL RESISTANCE:
Do not expose to petrol, white spirit, paraffin and similar organic solvents which will dissolve the bitumen.
LIMITATIONS:
| Do not use in permanently submerged joints. |
| Bitumen may cause staining on some substrates. |
| Check for compatibility with other sealants. |
| Do not use in joints subject to traffic. |
| Do not encase in cement. |
