DESCRIPTION:
Alfas Bond FR is a one component polyurethane (PU) foam packaged in aerosal form in-situ application. THe propellants used are CFC and (H) CFC free and have zero ozone depletion potential. THe product expands and cures on application through the absorption of moisture rom the atmosphere. The cured foam has a substantially closed cell structure throughout and hardens to a semi-rigid form which is both firm and yielding and yet can be trimmed using a sharp knife.
Alfas Bond FR is available in two types of canister: In-situ Grade (dispensed via a plastic nozzle) and a Gun Grade ( for use with the Alfas Bond FR applicator gun ). A dual purpose solvent and spray cleaner is available for cleaning the guns and ancillary equipment, details available upon request from the sales office.
TYPICAL USES:
Alfas Bond FR has excellent adhesive properties and once set, forms a strong bond to most building materials such as wood, brick, stone, cement, plaster, polystyrene, metals, and many plastics. This product acts as a fire seal for up to 4 hours when tested to BS476 Part 20 or for longer periods when used in conjunction with Alfasil FR, FR-2 or Alfacryl FR.
STORAGE:
Store between +5 dg C and 25 dg C in dry conditions upright and in original packaging. Shelf life approximately 9 months.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
No special surface preperation is required but surfaces in contact with the product must be clean and free from dirt and grease. Remove any loose particles by brushing. In dry conditions dampen the joint surfaces with clean water before application to assist adhesion and accelerate curing.
APPLICATIONS:
Shake the can thoroughly at least 20 times to mix the contents before use and repeat periodically during use. Follow the instructions printed on the canister label. Joints should be slightly under filled to allow for post expansion of the foam. When filling deep joints apply in layers, waiting until each layer has skinned and partially cured before applying the next. Applying a slight misting of clean water between each layer before subsequent application will assist adhesion and cure speed. The foam will be tack free in approximately 10 minutes and trimmable in 30 - 60 minutes depending on thickness, temperature and humidity.
LIMITATIONS:
Alfas Bond FR will not adhere to Teflon, polythene or silicone coated surfaces. Loose components may need to be clamped or secured in position at least until foam sets. Surrinding surfaces should be suitably masked and protective clothing worn. The cured foam is not UV resistant and should be protected with a suitable fire rated surface coating.
